Four Victoria Police officers have filed separate lawsuits alleging that senior officers subjected them to systemic bullying and harassment resulting in severe psychiatric injuries. The claims highlight serious concerns about workplace culture within Victoria Police, with officers allegedly suffering conditions including PTSD, depression and anxiety so severe they have been unable to work.

Former Detective Sergeant Kieran Murnane, who served 24 years, alleges he endured abuse from 2018 to 2023 under Detective Senior Sergeant James Sullivan and Inspector Dean Clinton, and has been off work since December 2023. Officer Elliott McGibbony claims an extended campaign of obstruction and interference from Superintendents Mick Hermans and Paul Tymms and Senior Sergeant Collin Chammings, including allegations that a senior officer attempted to persuade his ex-wife to make accusations against him; he has been unable to work since December 2022. Rachell Field named Superintendents Paul Hollowood (a 48-year veteran) and Dee Dummett (with 30 years' service) in her claim, all four writs filed in the Supreme Court of Victoria in early September and handled by the same legal firm.
