Bonfire Night blaze burns ‘several tonnes’ of hay

A large fire involving several tonnes of wrapped hay bales broke out at a farm in Cudworth, Barnsley, in the early hours after Bonfire Night. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service urged people to avoid the area while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Five fire engines attended after a call shortly after 02:00 GMT, with two still at the scene later that afternoon. The cause had not been established, and an investigation was due to begin once the fire was fully out.
