Jennifer Nettles, best known as the lead singer of country-pop duo Sugarland, was born on 12 September 1974 in Douglas, Georgia, and turns 52 this year. She founded Sugarland in 2002 alongside Kristian Bush and Kristen Hall, and after Hall's departure in 2006, Nettles and Bush continued as a duo, going on to become one of country music's most decorated and commercially successful acts.

Sugarland has released six albums and scored five number-one singles on the Billboard country songs chart, alongside three Grammy Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards and six Country Music Association Awards. Beyond the duo, Nettles has built a wide-ranging solo career, releasing two solo albums, featuring on a chart-topping cover of Bon Jovi's "Who Says You Can't Go Home", and appearing in television roles including HBO's The Righteous Gemstones and Amazon's The Bondsman, as well as Broadway productions such as Chicago and Waitress.
