Country singer Martina McBride, born in Kansas on 29 July 1966, is marking her 60th birthday. Known for her powerful soprano voice, which has led some to dub her the "Celine Dion of country music", McBride built a career defined by emotionally resonant songs that have connected deeply with listeners over more than three decades in the industry.

McBride's rise began after she moved to Nashville in 1989 with her husband, sound engineer John McBride, and signed with RCA Nashville Records in 1991 on the strength of a demo tape he produced. Her breakthrough hits included "Independence Day" and her first number one, "Wild Heart", in 1995, followed by further chart-toppers such as "A Broken Wing", "I Love You" and "Blessed". She won the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award in 1999 and, in a 2025 interview, said she was most proud of choosing songs that have genuinely meant something to her fans.
