Pam Tillis, daughter of country singer Mel Tillis, is being recognised on her 69th birthday for building a successful career in her own right after a slow start in pop music. Born in Plant City, Florida, on 24 July 1957, Tillis performed with her father at the Grand Ole Opry aged eight and taught herself guitar by 12.
