Linda McCartney, born Linda Eastman in Scarsdale, New York, became known not only as Paul McCartney’s wife but also as an influential photographer, musician, cookbook author and animal rights campaigner. Her candid photographs of the Rolling Stones launched her professional career, while her work with Rolling Stone made her the first woman to appear on the magazine’s cover as photographer and the only person to feature a self-shot image there.

She met Paul McCartney in London in 1967 and married him in 1969, later joining him in the band Wings after the Beatles split. Together they released several successful albums, won Grammys and achieved six US number-one singles; Linda also promoted vegetarianism through cookbooks, a meat-free food brand and animal welfare activism.
