Bose buys Skullcandy to expand its reach among audio consumers

The Verge ·

Bose has acquired Skullcandy, aiming to bring its audio technology to more consumers through a broader portfolio of brands. Skullcandy will remain a separate brand within Bose’s premium consumer audio business, while Bose says its designs and links with board sports athletes can help it connect with audiences it reaches less today.

The companies did not disclose financial or other specific terms of the deal. Skullcandy, founded in 2003, will stay based in Park City, Utah, and has already incorporated Bose features such as spatial audio and active noise cancellation into some products. The acquisition follows Bose’s purchases of McIntosh and Sonus faber in 2024, and StreamUnlimited Engineering and Firelight Technologies this year.
