Bose recalls S1 Pro battery packs due to fire and overheating risks
Bose has recalled certain battery packs used in its S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ portable speakers because they can overheat and catch fire, creating a risk of burns and property damage. Owners should stop using an affected battery and apply for a free replacement; the speakers can still be used while connected to mains power.
The recall covers nearly 635,000 packs in the US and about 35,400 in Canada, sold from December 2017 to July 2026. Bose has received seven reports of packs melting, smoking or catching fire, including six reports of property damage, with no injuries reported. Owners can check the battery’s 17-digit serial number against seven affected prefixes: 083723, 078352, 084105, 078591, 078592, 084106 and 086409. Recalled lithium-ion batteries should be taken to a local household hazardous waste centre for safe disposal.
