Bottom of the Well dungeon walkthrough in Ocarina of Time
The Bottom of the Well is a mini dungeon in Kakariko Village in the Ocarina of Time remake, where Link finds the Lenses of Truth. Reaching it requires changing the water level by travelling between the past and future, and the dungeon tests players with hidden passages, invisible holes and enemies.
To enter, learn the Song of Storms from Music Man in the future, then return to the past and play it inside the windmill to drain the well. Young Link can then descend, use Zelda’s Lullaby to lower water further, and defeat Dead Hand to obtain the Lenses of Truth. The item reveals illusions but uses magic while active; players can leave for the Shadow Temple after collecting it, or continue exploring the dungeon.
In short
- Drain the well by playing the Song of Storms in the past.
- Defeat Dead Hand to obtain the Lenses of Truth.
- The Lenses reveal illusions and consume magic when active.
Explained simply
Ocarina of Time is an adventure game in which players guide Link through Hyrule, solving puzzles and collecting items. Link appears as a child and an adult at different points in the story, and some actions in one period affect places he visits in the other.
The Bottom of the Well is an underground area beneath Kakariko Village, a settlement in Hyrule. Its winding passages include concealed routes and threats that can be difficult to see, so players must explore carefully.
The Lenses of Truth reveal things hidden by illusions, helping Link navigate certain areas and face enemies. Using the lens consumes magic, so players must manage that resource as they explore.
