Boulter into Japan semi-finals and back as British No 1

Katie Boulter fought back from a set and a break down to beat Antonia Ruzic and reach the Japan Open semi-finals. The win also restores her position as British number one, a ranking she lost to Sonay Kartal earlier in the week.

The eighth seed won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in two hours, despite early trouble on serve. She will face Czech player Katerina Siniakova for a place in the final; whatever the result, Boulter is set to move back into the world’s top 50 when rankings are updated on Monday.
