Boxer to revive youth club he joined as a teen

Former British, European and Commonwealth boxing champion Jason Cunningham is reopening the youth club he attended in Brodsworth, Doncaster, aiming to give local young people a safe place to socialise, build confidence and try activities. The project matters because Cunningham says there is little available for children locally, and he hopes the combined gym and youth hub will strengthen community support.

Cunningham, 36, returned to Brodsworth Miners Welfare to run a boxing gym and developed the plan with the venue’s chair, James Irwin. Through his Iceman Foundation, established in August 2023, he is already running free fitness and mental-health projects, including a six-week summer programme for young people not in education, employment or training; the hub is expected to open in September.
