A 15-year-old boy and his father are fighting for their lives in hospital after being stabbed by two masked men who broke into their home in Thurnby, Leicestershire, in the early hours of Thursday morning. Detectives describe the assault as "completely unprovoked" and are appealing for witnesses as they investigate the violent intrusion.
Two masked men entered the property at around 12:30am and assaulted three family members. The boy and his father, aged in his 50s, suffered serious injuries and remain in life-threatening condition; the boy's mother, in her 40s, sustained minor injuries to her hand and shoulder. Three other children in the house were not harmed. The attackers fled the scene before armed police arrived, and officers are now appealing for CCTV, dashcam footage or witness information from the Station Road and Somerby Road area between 11pm Wednesday and early Thursday morning.
