Boy, 16, dies after car crashes into tree leaving two others injured: Driver, 18, is arrested
A 16-year-old boy has died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree in Worcestershire, with two other teenage passengers also injured in the collision. An 18-year-old man, the driver of the vehicle, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving as well as driving under the influence of drink and drugs, and police are appealing for witnesses to help establish the circumstances of the crash.
The blue Volkswagen Polo left the carriageway of the A4104 near Defford and Bourne Road at around 9.20pm on Saturday. The 16-year-old boy suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other passengers, aged 16 and 17, sustained minor injuries. The driver has since been interviewed and bailed as West Mercia Police continue their inquiries, with Detective Sergeant Rose Hughes asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward via email or by calling 101.
