Boy of 17 killed his mother and shot at father amid discipline row in Alabama

Daily Mail · 2 months ago

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder and attempted murder after prosecutors say he fatally stabbed his mother and tried to kill his father during an argument over discipline at the family's home in Daphne, Alabama, on Sunday night. According to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, a domestic argument turned violent, with the teenager allegedly attacking both parents inside the house before pursuing them outside as they fled to neighbours' homes for help. The case highlights the sudden lethal escalation of a family dispute involving two military parents and their teenage son.

Samantha Baker, 37, a realtor and former Army National Guard member, was found outside the property with multiple stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband Lance, 46, a US Army Reserve Battalion Commander, was heard screaming for help as he ran between houses and was airlifted to hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of Monday. The teenager, whose name has been withheld due to his age, locked himself inside and called 911, telling dispatchers he believed he had stabbed one parent to death; he was arrested at the scene, charged as an adult, and had his bond set at $1 million. The couple, originally from Mississippi, met while serving in the Army, married in 2012 and had two sons, moving to Daphne in 2016.
