Brandon Flowers Has Considered Quitting Music: “Why Am I Doing it Anyway?”

Consequence · 2 hours ago

Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has admitted he has been questioning whether to continue his music career, telling The Times he is grappling with doubts about his long-term future in the industry. The 45-year-old, whose band formed in 2001, said he falls ill without fail after every tour and has been reflecting on whether the demands of performing are still worthwhile, drawing a contrast with his father's simpler, contented lifestyle.

Flowers said he ultimately draws inspiration from Mick Jagger's continued dedication to performing, citing the "powerful moments" a concert can create as a reason to keep going, at least for now. His reflections have fed into his new solo album, THRASHER, his first since 2015's The Desired Effect, which explores country and western influences inspired by his father's musical taste. The record is out on 21 August via Island Records, and Flowers will support it with a 17-date North American tour beginning 1 September.
