People across Yorkshire marked Yorkshire Day on 1 August with parades, music, food and community events, celebrating regional identity under the White Rose. The annual occasion matters as a civic celebration shared across Yorkshire’s four historic counties, bringing together towns, local leaders and cultural groups.

Official celebrations were held in Goole during its 200th anniversary, including a mayoral parade and church service, while Ilkley hosted family entertainment and the Yorkshire Day Proclamation. Elsewhere, the Emley Moor Brass Band performed beneath the 330m transmitter, York’s mayor shared a Yorkshire pudding recipe, Barnsley’s Asda temporarily became “t’Asda”, and Bradford staged its first Yorkshire Proms.
