'Brave New Love', the second fiction feature from Swedish-Danish director Maria Bäck, premiered in the main competition at the Locarno Film Festival. The drama follows Kate, a Copenhagen wife and mother, as she navigates a years-long affair without treating it as a crisis with an obvious resolution, instead giving her space to work out whether she loves both men in her life, or neither fully.

Starring Kathrine Thorborg Johansen as Kate alongside Simon Sears as her husband Orla and Anders Danielsen Lie as her lover Andreas, the film unfolds in snapshots spanning three years, skipping past the start of the infidelity to chart its slow unravelling once Andreas announces he is moving to Greece. Reviewer Guy Lodge likens its tone to Joachim Trier's work, noting Trier collaborator Eskil Vogt consulted on the script, and suggests it should prove an easier sell for distributors than Bäck's darker debut, 'Psychosis in Stockholm'.
