Braxton Keith Is Leading Country’s New Class of Twang
Rising country singer-songwriter Braxton Keith is drawing attention as part of a new generation reshaping the genre, with even crossover star Post Malone taking notice. Earlier this spring, Malone invited the Midland, Texas-based artist onstage during his Stagecoach festival set to perform Keith's own song "Cozy" rather than one of Malone's tracks, a gesture that has helped raise Keith's profile within the country music scene.
Speaking on Rolling Stone's Nashville Now podcast, Keith explained that Malone first reached out to him online last year via direct message, telling him he was a fan of his music before later arranging through management for Keith to join him onstage. Keith admitted to feeling nervous performing to a crowd unfamiliar with his material, but said Malone reassured him beforehand. In the same interview, Keith also discussed a separate viral incident in which he paused a concert to reprimand fans for throwing beer at the stage.
