Brendan Fraser’s ‘The Mummy 4’ Officially Set for 2027 Release
The fourth film in Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy series has been titled The Mummy: Book of the Dead and is scheduled to reach cinemas on 15 October 2027. Fraser and Rachel Weisz will return as Rick and Evie O’Connell, bringing back the original leads for a sequel that sets aside the events of the 2008 film.
The title refers to the ancient Egyptian funerary text that featured in the first two films, where it was linked to Imhotep’s resurrection and death, as well as Evie’s revival. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence are directing from a script by David Coggeshall; returning cast members include John Hannah, Oded Fehr and Kevin J. O’Connor.

The Mummy is an adventure film series that mixes action, comedy and supernatural elements with ancient Egyptian settings. Its first two films follow Rick O’Connell, a former soldier, and Egyptologist Evelyn “Evie” Carnahan as they confront the resurrected priest Imhotep.
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz play Rick and Evie, while John Hannah and Oded Fehr are among the actors who have appeared alongside them. The story’s Book of the Dead is a fictionalised version of an ancient Egyptian funerary text, which the films connect to bringing the dead back to life.
The series continued with a 2008 film featuring a later chapter in the O’Connells’ lives. The new film is reported to move on from that instalment’s events, making the returning characters and the earlier films’ story central to its background.
