Brent Lang Named Editor-in-Chief of IndieWire
Brent Lang, Variety’s executive editor, has been appointed editor-in-chief of IndieWire, taking up the role on 17 August. The move places an experienced Hollywood journalist at the head of a major entertainment publication during a period of significant change for media and the film industry.
Lang will be based in New York and report to PMC senior vice-president Jerry Ruiz. He joined Variety in 2014 and previously worked at TheWrap; in 2024, the Los Angeles Press Club named him entertainment journalist of the year. He succeeds Dana Harris-Bridson, who led IndieWire editorially for 15 years.
