Poison frontman Bret Michaels has been told by doctors to rest for three to four weeks after undergoing surgery for a complicated obstructing kidney stone, forcing a pause in his ongoing "Live & Amplified" solo tour. He was diagnosed on 19 July after suffering severe kidney pain following a performance at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington, and had a ureteral stent fitted during the procedure, which remains in place.

His physician, Dr Abby Borhan, said the stent causes significant discomfort and that strenuous performing risks pain spikes, bleeding and stent displacement, while Michaels's Type 1 diabetes and a lower back compression fracture heighten the danger of infection during recovery. Michaels, who thanked fans and his team for their support, said he hopes to resume touring in late August, while separately POISON's bandmates continue to eye a possible 40th-anniversary reunion tour in 2027.
