Bret Michaels, frontman of the rock band Poison, has undergone surgery to remove a kidney stone after performing through several shows while in severe pain rather than cancel on fans. The 63-year-old revealed the ordeal in a Facebook post, describing the pain as "intense" but saying he continued playing gigs before finally being hospitalised.

Michaels said the stone failed to pass naturally after almost a week, and the pain became unbearable after a private show for military personnel at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, prompting his hospital admission. He confirmed the operation is complete and thanked medical staff, adding he plans to resume touring once fully recovered. The episode adds to a long history of health issues for Michaels, who has managed Type 1 diabetes since childhood and survived a brain haemorrhage and stroke in 2010.
