Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler has confirmed that his original band is going on hiatus while he focuses on Saxon, which he joined in 2023 after Paul Quinn stepped back from touring. Speaking to Eonmusic at the Maid Of Stone festival, Tatler said he had initially hoped to juggle both bands but has since accepted that Saxon's busy schedule makes this impractical for now, though he stressed Diamond Head is not splitting up permanently.

Tatler revealed Saxon's next album is expected to be called "Gods Of Thunder", pencilled in for release in January 2027, and confirmed he has again contributed songwriting material, having first done so on 2024's "Hell, Fire And Damnation". He also said Paul Quinn remains on good terms with the band and could still contribute a song if inspiration struck, while Diamond Head, which Tatler founded in 1976, will resume "when there's a suitable break or an opportunity" that suits everyone.
