Brighton & Hove Albion captain Maisie Symonds has signed a new long-term contract, tying down the Women's Super League club's most established player. The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined from Chelsea in 2021, has become a key figure both on and off the pitch since taking the captaincy last season, with head coach Dario Vidosic saying she is central to the club's ambition of becoming a top-four WSL side.

Symonds has made 103 appearances for Brighton and captained the team to their first-ever Women's FA Cup final in May, where they faced Manchester City at Wembley. She has represented England at under-21 level and earned her first senior call-up in March 2025. The news follows Brighton's earlier announcement of plans for Europe's first purpose-built women's football stadium, costing an estimated £75-80m, underlining the club's broader investment in the women's game.
