BBC Sport ·

Harry Brook became the first England batter to score a double century in a one-day international, making 202 against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. His record-breaking innings helped England reach 429-4, their highest ODI total in Pakistan, and showed a sharp response after their tri-series defeat by Pakistan earlier in the week.

Brook reached 200 from 114 balls, beating the previous fastest ODI double-century mark of 117 balls, set by India’s Shubman Gill. He struck 21 fours and 10 sixes in a 116-ball innings, adding 159 with Joe Root and an unbeaten 185 with Will Jacks, who scored 66 not out. Brook’s 202 is England’s highest ODI score, surpassing Ben Stokes’ 182.
