British True Crime Producer Association Welcomes Non-UK Producers For First Time Including America’s Gennie Studios, My Entertainment and Texas Crew
The Association of True Crime Producers (ATCP) has opened membership to producers outside Britain for the first time, adding seven companies from the US, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Canada. The move aims to establish the association’s standards as an international marker of responsible true crime production as programmes reach audiences worldwide.
Founded three years ago, the ATCP promotes professional standards, including guidelines on protecting victims, and supports members through events and seminars. The new members are US companies Gennie Studios, My Entertainment and Texas Crew Productions, plus Perpetual, Southern Exposure, Our Story and Serial Maven Studios. Chair Kate Beal said international recognition is an important next step; the association’s formation followed concerns about standards in a rapidly growing genre, including the death of UK producer John Balson.
