British passenger Linda Kitchen has described the death of her husband Geoff and her own serious injuries after Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 encountered severe turbulence in May 2024. The incident highlights the potential danger of sudden in-flight turbulence and has led to legal action and calls for a full investigation into what happened.

The Boeing 777-300ER, travelling from London Heathrow, reportedly fell 178ft in five seconds around ten hours into the flight before making an emergency landing in Bangkok. Linda Kitchen, 74, sustained spinal fractures and spent time in intensive care, while her 73-year-old husband died after a suspected heart attack; she has filed two High Court claims against the airline, and an inquest into his death is pending. Singapore Airlines’ chief executive apologised to those affected, and other passengers have also pursued legal action.
