Dippy eggs and soldiers is a simple British children's dish consisting of a soft-boiled egg served in an egg cup alongside strips of buttered toast for dipping. The meal has been part of British childhoods for generations and is remembered fondly by many people for the comfort and security it provided.

The power of childhood foods lies in their ability to trigger strong memories and emotions in adults. Many people seek out the meals they ate growing up, either to relive those feelings of safety and happiness or simply because they find familiar tastes soothing and reassuring.
