Broadway theatres will dim their marquees on Tuesday 8 September in tribute to a group of industry figures, including country music legend Dolly Parton, who died on 25 August. The gesture is part of a quarterly tradition, established last year, honouring creative professionals who have left a lasting mark on Broadway, and reflects the theatre community's practice of formally recognising the loss of significant contributors to the stage.

The dimming will take place simultaneously across all Broadway theatres at 6:45pm ET. Alongside Parton, whose musical Dolly: A True Original is bound for New York, those honoured include Rocky Horror Show actor Tim Curry, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman star Louise Lasser, and music executive and Broadway producer Clive Davis. Also named are actors Gina Ferrall and Josh Grisetti, production manager Jeff Hamlin, composer Glen Hansard, designer Anna Louizos, general manager Seth Marquette, actor Anne Russell, producer James Walsh, and orchestrator Harold Wheeler.
