Broadway’s ‘Fallen Angels’ Live Capture Starring Rose Byrne & Kelli O’Hara Sets Theatrical Release

Deadline · 5 hours ago

Noël Coward's Broadway revival Fallen Angels, starring Rose Byrne and Kelli O'Hara, is being turned into a live-capture cinema release after wrapping its sold-out theatre run last month. Trafalgar Releasing, working with BroadwayHD, will bring the filmed production to cinemas in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and other territories from 22 October, following a similar approach used recently for Broadway's Hadestown. The move reflects a growing trend of bringing acclaimed stage productions to wider audiences through limited theatrical cinema runs.

The Roundabout Theatre Company production, directed by Scott Ellis, opened on Broadway in April after previews from late March and received five Tony nominations, including Best Play Revival, with Jeff Mahshie winning for costume design. The cast also features Tracee Chimo, Mark Consuelos (marking his Broadway debut), Christopher Fitzgerald and Aasif Mandvi, and the play centres on two upper-class wives revisiting a shared past lover while their husbands are away. Both Byrne and O'Hara expressed enthusiasm about the play reaching cinema audiences worldwide, while Trafalgar and BroadwayHD executives highlighted theatre's growing role in driving cinema box office.
