BRUCE DICKINSON To Release First Single From His Upcoming Solo Album Within Next Two Weeks

Blabbermouth ·

Bruce Dickinson says the first single from his upcoming solo album is expected in about 10 days, with a video to accompany it. The Iron Maiden singer described the video as being about truth and said the album was made without samples, reflecting his view that artificial intelligence copies rather than creates.

The eighth solo album is due in early 2027 through BMG and follows 2024’s “The Mandrake Project”. Most of it was recorded in January and February at Studio 606 in California, with producer Brendan Duffey; Dickinson said the sessions produced 18 songs, some of which did not make the album. The record includes contributions from his solo band, his son Austin and Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser, and Dickinson has announced solo shows in Europe next year.

In short

  • Bruce Dickinson expects his new solo album’s first single in about 10 days.
  • The album is due in early 2027 through BMG.
  • Recording sessions produced 18 songs, with some left off the album.

Steelman: both sides, in good faith

The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.

The case for

Dickinson’s preference for a record made without samples reflects a defensible view that artistic work should foreground musicians’ own performances and creative choices. In a field where AI can reproduce patterns from existing work, avoiding it may help preserve a sense of human authorship and distinguish the album’s sound.

The case against

Others may see AI tools and sampling as instruments that artists can use creatively, rather than replacements for human authorship. A blanket rejection risks overlooking ways these tools can support experimentation, and the claim that AI copies rather than creates is a contested judgement about creativity rather than a settled fact.
