NME · 3 hours ago

Bruce Springsteen has revealed that his wife and E Street Band bandmate Patti Scialfa is now in remission after living with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer, for more than eight years. He shared the news in a video message during a fundraiser for the Pan-Mass Challenge bike ride, which supports Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where Scialfa has been treated, using the moment to praise medical research and the doctors who cared for her.

Scialfa, who has been a member of the E Street Band since 1984 and married Springsteen in 1991, first confirmed her diagnosis in 2024, saying it had been ongoing since 2018. She has largely stepped back from regular touring since then, making only occasional appearances on stage. In his message, Springsteen thanked Dana-Farber's "amazing team" and stressed the importance of medical research, before closing with an acoustic performance of "Born To Run".
