Bruno Guimarães completes Arsenal comeback to end Leeds’ unbeaten run
Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds 2-1, ending the visitors’ unbeaten Premier League run. Bruno Guimarães changed the match after coming on just after the hour, scoring the winner nine minutes later and giving Arsenal greater urgency and control.
James Justin had put Leeds ahead by finishing Gabriel Gudmundsson’s cross during a spell of second-half dominance. Riccardo Calafiori equalised after Noni Madueke’s cross was knocked down by Ben White, before Guimarães finished a Declan Rice back-heel set up through Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard. Arsenal and Leeds are two long-established English football clubs who meet in the Premier League, the top division of the men’s game in England. A win adds three points to a club’s league total, while an unbeaten run means it has gone through a series of matches without losing.
Arsenal are based in north London and Leeds in West Yorkshire. Leeds returned to the Premier League after playing in lower divisions, so their results against established top-flight sides are one measure of how they are adapting to the division.
