BTS are back: return of K-pop superstars sparks US economic boom

The Guardian · 4 hours ago

BTS’s first world tour in four years is generating substantial spending in the United States, as fans travel for 14 North American concerts across six cities in August and September. The group’s return is benefiting hotels, restaurants, cultural venues and local businesses, while also promoting wider interest in Korean food, beauty, language and culture.

Four sold-out Las Vegas shows in May were estimated to have created $340m in economic activity, and analysts expect the New Jersey concerts on 1 and 2 August to rival or exceed the spending linked to the recent World Cup final at MetLife Stadium. HYBE, BTS’s label, reported record quarterly revenue of $993m, while partner venues and businesses are offering fan activities, exhibitions and BTS-themed food through the “BTS The City – Arirang” project.
