Folk-rock duo Buffalo Traffic Jam have released their debut album, "Pictures of You," out July 31 on Arista Records, drawing on a pivotal year that included the death of Frankie Cassidy's grandmother, the pair's college graduation and their transition into full-time touring musicians. Cassidy, who forms the duo alongside Nathan Ross, said the concept stemmed from sorting through old family photographs after his grandmother's funeral, an experience that inspired him to treat the album's songs as an "audible photo catalog" documenting a transformative period in their lives.

Cassidy and Ross met at Montana State University in Bozeman, where they studied architecture and mechanical engineering respectively, and began making music together in 2024 before signing with Arista in May 2025. Influenced by artists such as Zach Bryan and Noah Kahan, they built early momentum with a self-titled 2024 EP and 2025's "Take Me Home," followed by breakout single "Fool's Gold," which reached the top five of Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay chart. The new album expands their sound with fuller instrumentation, crafted with five producers including Brian Elmquist, Ryan Hadlock, Sam Westhoff, Carrie K and Joe Becker, while retaining the rustic, pared-back feel associated with Montana's landscapes.
