In Bulgaria, prosecutors in Plovdiv charged two youths, aged 18 and 17, over the alleged assault of two Nepalese men on the night of 24–25 July. Authorities said a video found on one suspect’s phone recorded the incident, and that the alleged victims, aged 33 and 27, sustained minor injuries. The case followed the arrests of the two suspects on 10 August; the allegations remain to be tested through the legal process.
In Dubai, British TikTok creator Brooke George remains charged with premeditated murder after the fatal stabbing of William Treeby in June, while maintaining that she acted in self-defence. Newly reported CCTV establishes part of the pair’s movements earlier that day, while reported witness evidence and toxicology findings may be relevant to her account but do not determine the case; a Dubai court will assess the evidence. Separately, Guildford-based developer Supermassive Games began a redundancy consultation that it expects could affect up to 75 staff, describing the move as necessary for the company’s sustainability. It is the studio’s third reported round of job cuts in under three years.
