Burnley drop shirt sponsor after 42 days

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

Burnley have ended their front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with trading company Finotive One only 42 days after announcing it, days before their Championship opener against West Ham. The club said it acted to protect its own and supporters’ interests, but has not explained the specific reasons; the decision is likely to be costly because shirts and promotional material must be replaced.

Fans who bought the 2026-27 home or away kits carrying Finotive One branding can receive refunds or exchanges, while the shirts have been removed from sale. Burnley will instead use UK car dealership Vertu Motors as sponsor, and their recent promotional video featuring JJ Watt, James Anderson and Arnold Schwarzenegger has become outdated. The episode follows previous sponsorship difficulties and a long run of gambling-related shirt sponsors, including 96.com, whose operator faced Gambling Commission action.

  • Burnley cancelled Finotive One’s sponsorship after just 42 days.
  • Supporters can obtain refunds or replacement shirts.
  • Vertu Motors will become the new shirt sponsor.
