Noise-rock veterans Buzz Osborne (Melvins) and Jeff "JD" Pinkus (Butthole Surfers) have launched a new supergroup called Gatta Morta, surprising fans with a debut EP that arrived alongside the announcement. The pairing brings together two of underground rock's longest-serving figures, with Osborne saying the idea took shape while touring last autumn and that forming the band with his new bandmates felt like "a no brainer."

The full line-up also features drummer Coady Willis, known for Big Business, High On Fire and his long stint in the Melvins' double-drummer set-up, plus Clinton Jacob of Chicago duo Mr. Phylzzz. The four-track EP, titled Burn Witch Burn, is out now via noise-rock label Amphetamine Reptile, though it is not fully available on streaming; one track, "Black Hall," has been shared publicly, with the rest requiring purchase.
