Critics contend his remarks risk sanitising Iran-backed militant groups, whilst Piker has emphasised the importance of understanding the geopolitical context of violent resistance. Australia classifies the Houthi movement as a terrorist organisation, and character test provisions have previously been invoked to deny entry to other high-profile commentators, including Candace Owens.
