Camara to make home F1 debut in Brazil as Haas rule out Ocon’s return
Rafael Camara will make his Formula One race debut at the São Paulo Grand Prix this weekend, giving the 21-year-old Brazilian a home race after Haas confirmed Esteban Ocon will not return to its seat this season. The decision leaves Ocon out of the team’s remaining races and brings forward the chance for Camara, already named as his replacement for 2027, to race for Haas.
Ocon was sidelined before the Mexico City Grand Prix for reasons the team has not disclosed; Haas said they were unrelated to his health. He denied that physical violence was involved, while acknowledging a difference in viewpoints with the team. Japanese reserve Ryo Hirakawa filled in in Mexico and finished 10th, but has World Endurance Championship duties with Toyota in Brazil. Haas are seventh in the constructors’ standings, four points ahead of Audi, with Britain’s Ollie Bearman scoring 23 of their 31 points across 19 races.
