Dekanalog has acquired the US rights to “Nina Roza”, Canada’s entry for the Academy Awards. The film, directed by Geneviève Dulude-De Celles, won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, raising its profile ahead of its American release and highlighting its exploration of immigration, identity and belonging.

The film follows Mihail, a Bulgarian-born Canadian who returns to his homeland 30 years after leaving to assess the work of an eight-year-old artist whose viral video attracts a major collector. It previously won two awards at Locarno’s 2025 First Look programme. Dekanalog plans a US theatrical release in early 2027, followed by VOD and Blu-ray, and has also acquired Dulude-De Celles’s 2018 film “A Colony” for release next year.
