Capcom are reworking Dragon’s Dogma 2’s infamous Dragonsplague so you can “enjoy the strategic decisions we originally envisioned” for it

Capcom is reworking Dragon's Dogma 2's controversial "Dragonsplague" affliction, a mechanic that boosts a Pawn companion's combat abilities but can trigger a devastating attack wiping out an entire NPC village if left untreated. The change comes via Title Update 3.2, due in late August ahead of the Dark Arisen expansion on 9th October, with producer Naoto Oyama saying the goal is to help players "enjoy the strategic decisions we originally envisioned" rather than simply removing the risk.

Previous patches had already made the condition's symptoms more visible and allowed Pawns to recover naturally in Casual mode, but Oyama said the positive combat benefits of the affliction weren't being communicated clearly and players had few options once they spotted it. Title Update 3.2 will introduce a new curative item, the Dragonsbaulk Draught, alongside combat tweaks for afflicted Pawns, such as stunning large enemies by targeting their legs and striking smaller enemies without expending stamina, giving players a genuine choice between exploiting the buff or curing it.
