Capcom Says The Likelihood Of A Pragmata Sequel Is High

Nintendo Life · 3 hours ago

Capcom has signalled strong interest in developing a sequel to Pragmata, its new sci-fi action IP, after the game outperformed expectations commercially. Corporate officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi said the "likelihood of a sequel is high" during the company's latest financial results, adding that Capcom hopes to grow Pragmata into a "pillar franchise and a source of longer-term revenue" — a notable vote of confidence for a brand-new property rather than an established series.

Pragmata launched in April and has since sold more than 2.5 million units, a total Capcom attributes partly to the gameplay and partly to the popularity of android companion character Diana. The update echoes earlier remarks from the game's director in May, who said he would "love to see a sequel" while noting the decision wasn't his alone, as well as comments from Capcom's US COO describing Pragmata as another strong addition to the company's stable of IPs.
