Carmouche shaves head to make weight for world title fight

BBC Sport ·

Liz Carmouche shaved her head shortly before Friday’s weigh-in in Chicago to make the 125lb limit for her PFL flyweight world title fight against Jena Bishop. The 42-year-old’s last-minute haircut let her step on the scales within the limit, keeping the bout on track.

Bishop weighed in just under the limit. The fight is a rematch of their 2025 meeting, when Bishop was knocked out in the third round; Carmouche has won six of seven fights since joining the PFL in 2024. She says flyweight is a difficult weight cut but wants to defend the title against Britain’s Dakota Ditcheva if she wins, once Ditcheva has recovered from surgery.
