Caroline Rose Announces New Album Gentling The Horse At The Walt Whitman Mall: Hear “Chow Mein”

Stereogum · 2 hours ago

Singer-songwriter Caroline Rose has announced a new album, "Gentling The Horse At The Walt Whitman Mall," due out on 23 October via her own SUCK Records, alongside the release of second single "Chow Mein." The follow-up to last year's self-leaked, phone-recorded "year of the slug" sees Rose take a more polished approach, working with producer John Congleton, and marks a notable step up in production compared to the lo-fi predecessor.

The 11-track record also features May's previously released single "Yip Yip Yow." Rose described "Chow Mein" as a story pulled from her own life about "trying too hard to be cool and act normal, but everything is going wrong," reflecting her ongoing interest in outsider characters based on herself. She will support the album with an extensive North American and European tour running from late September through mid-November, including UK dates in London, Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool and Glasgow, several of which are shared with Modest Mouse.
