CBS Officially Confirms ‘Marshals’ Update That Fixes a Major Taylor Sheridan Problem

Collider · 5 hours ago

CBS's Yellowstone spin-off Marshals will use its second season to properly address Cal's (Logan Marshall-Green) cancer diagnosis, according to comments from Marshall-Green in a recent interview. The show follows Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) as he becomes a U.S. Marshal working alongside his brother Cal in Montana, and the decision to explore Cal's illness in depth is being seen as a correction of a criticism levelled at parent series Yellowstone, which was accused of underdeveloping Kevin Costner's John Dutton character.

Cal's diagnosis, a Pancoast tumour on his lung with a poor prognosis, was revealed late in Season 1 when he confided in Belle (Arielle Kebbel). Speaking to Collider Forces host Perri Nemiroff, Marshall-Green indicated that Season 2 will have Cal confront the illness directly rather than suffer in silence, with knock-on effects for his relationship with daughter Maddie (Morgan Lindholm) and his position within the marshals team.
