Mumbai’s historic Olympia Coffee House has been closed by Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration after inspectors found serious hygiene violations. The action is notable because the 108-year-old café recently attracted Hollywood stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland and Christopher Nolan, despite staff reportedly not knowing who they were.

Inspectors found cockroaches and flies, dirty water, food handled on the floor, inadequate separation of raw foods, damaged chopping boards and a lack of protective clothing. They also discovered a urinal in the food-storage area, and ordered the café to stop buying, preparing, storing, selling and distributing food until the problems are fully corrected and the premises pass a further inspection.
