Celine Dion has revealed she was reluctant to record "My Heart Will Go On," the theme song for the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, which went on to become one of the best-selling songs of all time. It was her husband and manager, René Angélil, who committed her to the project, striking a deal with songwriter James Horner for Dion to record a demo despite her initial objections after already scoring big hits with "Because You Loved Me" and "Beauty and the Beast".

Dion told Billboard she was unimpressed when Horner first played her the unfinished song on piano, feeling he wasn't doing it justice, and remained "mad" about the arrangement even as she went to record it in New York. The song went on to spend 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won more than a dozen major awards, including four Grammys, though director James Cameron also initially resisted including a song in the film before being persuaded to listen to it.
