Celine Dion made a remote appearance at a Melbourne concert celebrating John Farnham, delivering an emotional performance of his 1986 hit “You’re the Voice”. The song is widely regarded in Australia as an unofficial national anthem, making Dion’s rendition a significant tribute to Farnham and their previous duet.

Dion joined more than 120 performers in the concert, while Farnham, 77, was absent because of poor health. The event sold out Melbourne’s 15,000-capacity Rod Laver Arena, with more than 23,000 fans watching in cinemas nationwide; an encore cinema season will follow. Dion is also managing stiff person syndrome while performing a 16-date comeback residency in Paris.
