Elsewhere in the Championship, West Brom were held by QPR and Birmingham beat a struggling Derby, as Swansea moved back into the automatic promotion places by beating Burnley 3-1, leaving new Burnley manager Nicky Hayen's side bottom of the table without a win in four league games.

Lower down the divisions, League One leaders Sheffield Wednesday were held goalless by Wigan, while second-placed Huddersfield also drew 0-0 at Mansfield, who had Owen Dodgson sent off shortly after coming on. Leicester's Russell Martin secured a much-needed 4-3 win at Stockport, and Bradford moved to within a point of the top with a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Notts County. Managerless Wycombe claimed their first win of the season, 3-2 at Leyton Orient, under interim boss Tom Hounsell following Michael Duff's dismissal, while Plymouth, Oxford and Cambridge also picked up wins and bottom club Doncaster lost again, 1-0 to AFC Wimbledon.
